Tasting Notes

This light-bodied, fruit-driven Pinot Gris offers captivating aromas of candied pineapple, fresh tangerine, and cantaloupe. On the palate, it reveals vibrant flavors of stone fruit, complemented by a floral bouquet and enriched by notes of minerality from concrete aging, showcasing both depth and roundness. The finish presents intriguing hints of kiwi zest and white peach, leaving the palate with a clean, crisp conclusion and a delicate balance of natural acidity. This wine is best enjoyed now through 2029, with optimal maturity expected in 2027. Serve chilled.

Vintage Notes

The 2023 vintage in Washington state was a "normal" one. A mild winter led to a chilly spring start, with record-high mid-April temperatures bringing the vines to life by late April. Moderate spring temperatures promoted steady growth, which was carefully managed to achieve ideal crop loads. June and July brought intense heat—among the hottest on record—accelerating ripening and causing lower acid levels, easily adjusted in the cellar. Overall, the vintage was exceptional, yielding some of the ripest grapes in years. White wines showcase bright tropical fruit with crisp acidity, while red wines are robust, elegant, and structured, with dark berry flavors and refined tannins, promising world-class quality for both early enjoyment and cellaring.

Winemaking Notes

The grapes for this wine were sourced from the top-performing Pinot Gris block in our estate vineyard and harvested in the cool morning hours of early October to prevent color from the red varietal. After being gently pressed to extract clear juice, it was transferred to stainless steel tanks for settling. Once clarified, the juice was racked into another tank and inoculated with a specially selected yeast strain. Fermentation occurred at a cool 61 degrees Fahrenheit for about 28 days, enhancing the wine’s vibrant stone fruit and citrus notes. After fermentation, the lees were stirred back into the wine twice a month for two months to round out the texture. The wine was then transferred to a concrete tank for an additional two months of aging, which added depth and a complex layer of minerality.
